Taking your first GLP-1 injection can feel intimidating, but thousands of our patients describe it as surprisingly easy.
Before Your First Injection
Make sure your medication is at room temperature (take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before). Wash your hands thoroughly.
Choosing an Injection Site
Common sites include: the abdomen (2 inches from navel), front of thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites each week.
The Injection Process
- Clean the site with an alcohol swab
- Pinch the skin gently
- Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle
- Press the plunger slowly and steadily
- Hold for 5 seconds before removing
- Dispose of the needle in a sharps container
After Your Injection
You may experience mild nausea or tenderness at the site — this is normal and typically resolves within a few days.
